Chapter Seven

Luke

The storm abated, which I’d been pretty sure it would do without raging and lasting all night. Of course, I wasn’t certain of exactly how long it lasted, since Emerson and I passed out thoroughly after his mind-blowing, mid-storm heat wave. All I knew was that the rain had stopped and the wind had died down by the time I woke up enough to pull myself out of bed to assess the condition of the boat.

I really hadn’t ever experienced anything remotely like that last heat wave before. I didn’t know if it was the stress of getting the Wanderlust through the storm or the excitement of the storm itself, or the fact that we were right smack in the middle of the most intense part of Emerson’s heat. The need that had come over me could only be described as primal. Emerson totally got off on the way I manhandled him too, which was a bit of a relief, since I had mixed feelings about going all feral on him like that.

And then there was that incredible breeding orgasm. I’d had them before with omegas—not that often, but enough to know what it was. None of them had ever been like that, though. It had been like Emerson and I fused somehow, like our essences became one for a second. It went so far beyond the physical pleasure, which had been intense, to say the least. It had been…cosmic.

I laughed at myself as I pulled my shorts on and headed out to the main part of the cabin to see what kind of a clean-up we would need to do. I’d had to embellish things now and then while giving a sales pitch to a recalcitrant millionaire who was on the fence about a particular boat in the past, but I hadn’t thought I was so prone to flowery language and hyperbole to describe things. But that’s what the breeding orgasm I’d shared with Emerson was. It was like I’d suddenly discovered the secrets of the universe.

“Oh, Luke,” I laughed at myself. “You’re so in love.”

I grinned as I went to work picking up things that had fallen off counters or out of cabinets, and as I swept a bit of standing water into the small drains along the floor that had been built in for the exact purpose of cleaning up after storms. Most of the towels that had been in the cupboards near the head were soaked and strewn around, so they weren’t going to be of any use in the clean-up. I didn’t think we’d be able to make the cabin truly livable again until after we docked.

I glanced toward the bedroom and Emerson’s sprawled, sleeping form on the bed. Just the sight of him made me smile. We. I couldn’t help but think about the two of us as one now. There was something so tangible about the two of us as a couple now, like a bond. We would clean up the Wanderlust together.
